This is the fourth year of the MOORE Overlanding & Off-Road Expo in Springfield, Missouri, at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. Created by a passionate overlanding and off-roading group, this event aims to foster connections within the community while providing education, entertainment, and exposure. Attendees had the option to camp on the event grounds with their rigs, and many chose to sleep in their rooftop tents, vans, or teardrop trailers. Additionally, the expo features the SMORR 2 MOORE Overland Rally, a driving competition where participants follow a printed list of route instructions to stay on course along some of the most breathtaking roads in the Midwest.
Overlanding is all about the experience and exploration. It is generally understood as vehicle-supported, self-reliant adventure travel where the journey, not the destination, is the primary goal. To overland successfully, building vehicles and machines that can support basic living needs and enhance the overall experience in various environments is essential. Maximizing space, using trusted gear, and proper preparation are priorities. In recent years, overlanding has gained a lot of popularity, with top automotive and power sports manufacturers dedicating more attention to this exciting category.
The two vehicles we showcased at the event were a 2022 Toyota Tundra and my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Both are decked out with Rough Country products, perfect for off-roading and outdoor adventures. With the vehicles we build and the products we sell, we approach everything with a system mentality. That means we think about everything as a whole to make sure our products work together seamlessly to enhance the outdoor experience. Our goal is to provide high-quality products that are both affordable and allow you to make your off-road setup unique to you.
Our Tundra was an impressive beast, fully loaded with the best gear available. The 3.5" M1 Suspension kit provides unparalleled performance and stability, ensuring a smooth ride even on the roughest terrain. The aluminum bed rack, featuring molle panels and liquid containers, allowed us to easily store and access all of our gear, and just in case we needed it, we had a rooftop tent that could provide a comfortable place to rest and sleep.
We were prepared for any weather conditions, with a 270 awning and annex, which gave us plenty of shade and shelter. We also added a prototype high clearance front bumper with a Pro Series 12000 lb synthetic rope winch, made for tackling even the toughest obstacles. The 87 Series bronze/black wheels and BFGoodrich KO2 AT tires not only looked great but also provided excellent traction and durability. The Nerf Steps made climbing in and out of the truck easy, while the black series LED lights added a touch of style and improved visibility and safety during night driving.
In short, our fully upgraded Tundra was the perfect vehicle for any adventure, on or off-road. It was equipped with the latest and greatest gear, ensuring that we could handle any challenge that came our way. Every aspect of the truck was carefully selected, from the suspension and tires to the awning and rooftop tent, to provide maximum performance, comfort, and convenience. With this Tundra, we were ready for anything the great outdoors had to offer.
My Tacoma was fully decked out with high-quality upgrades, including a 3.5" Vertex Suspension Kit for superior off-road performance. For the wheel setup, we had 85 Series gunmetal gray/black wheels and BFGoodrich KM3 MT tires. It also featured a high clearance front bumper with a Pro Series 9500 lb synthetic rope winch, AL2 drop steps for easy access, and a cold air intake and performance cat-back exhaust for maximum power. Additional upgrades included a roof rack for added storage and convenience and an onboard compressor kit for tire inflation. The Tacoma was equipped with black series LED lights with MLC 8-Gang, along with other safety and recovery gear.
We presented several other products to enhance an outdoor adventure during the showcase. Our 2.5-gallon bucket cooler keeps drinks and food cool, and our 50L portable refrigerator/freezer with a solar panel provides reliable cooling on longer trips. The collapsible fire pit will add ambiance and warmth to any campsite, and our 500W & 1000W portable power stations offer convenient power sources for electronic devices and small appliances.
Overall, the MOORE Overlanding & Off-Road Expo was a great success for Rough Country. We achieved our mission to strengthen connections within the community. We highly recommend adding this event to your calendar for next year, as it's an excellent opportunity to see the latest and greatest gear and connect with other outdoor enthusiasts. Also, keep an eye out for more upcoming overland expos that Rough Country will be attending. Thanks for joining us on this adventure, and we hope to see you at the next event!
