Track Bar FAQs

A track bar helps keep the axle centered under the vehicle laterally, reducing side-to-side movement and improving stability and steering feel, especially on lifted vehicles.

While the track bar mainly centers the axle rather than setting toe or camber, it can affect steering geometry, so most installers recommend checking or performing a wheel alignment after installation.

Common signs include wandering steering, clunking noises over bumps, uneven tire wear, or visibly shifted axles; inspecting for worn bushings, loose hardware, or cracks in the bar or bracket can confirm the problem.

With the vehicle at normal ride height on the ground, you lengthen or shorten the bar using its adjuster until the axle is visually centered under the body, then tighten the jam nuts to lock in the setting.

Some Rough Country track bars are adjustable from stock height up through several inches of lift, while others are designed for specific lift ranges, so check the listed lift fitment for each part number before purchasing.
